did you know..
Pre-care for a tattoo is just as important as the aftercare.
Not taking the proper steps before an appointment can result in fatigue, nausea, and even things like fainting ! Not only that, but taking the extra steps at taking care of your skin will lead to a smoother, faster appointment.

2-3 Weeks in Advance
It's important to remember that hydrated skin starts internally, with drinking lots of water! If you want to take the first step at hydrating your skin, drink lots of water every day.

MOISTURIZE!!
I can't express it enough that making it a habit to *feed* your skin, will do you, AND me some good. Prepping weeks before by getting into the habit also helps with aftercare and prolonged life of your tattoo. Moisturize every day or at least after every shower.

Take care of any acne breakouts, dry patches, or keratosis pilaris before your appointment. I will not tattoo any of the above if it is severe. Feel free to reach out if you have any concerns prior to your appointment.
Day Of
It's EXTREMELY Important that you eat and drink water prior to a tattoo appointment.
It's also important to make sure your blood sugar levels are normal incase you have a drop in adrenaline or sit for a longer session.

Bring bottled water, snacks, juice, even a full meal if you want.

Try not to drink too much coffee or any if you can avoid it. It is a natural blood thinner and can make people more anxious.

Do not drink or stay up late the night before. Getting a good nights rest goes a long way especially for longer sessions. Pain is always worse when you are uncomfortable AND tired.

dry skin; how it affects your tattoo and your artist
We all get dry. It happens. Its not something everyone thinks about, but it should be before a tattoo appointment.

Dry skin changes everything. From the ttattoo process, the healing, to overall outcome of your tattoo as well.
When skin is overly dry, it makes it harder for the needle to break your skin and inject ink far enough into the dermis. This means it will likely be more difficult and take longer to tattoo. It will also likely require more needles, glides, and wiping because the
ink and stencil will get stuck in dry skin patches.

Not only that...
When your skin is overly dry and you recieve a tattoo, the aftercare is even more important. You need to keep the area from drying out and cracking. If this happens, it can cause prolonged healing, scarring and potentially infections.

Even if all goes well, you may still be stuck getting a touchup if it doesnt heal properly.
Moisturize please. I will refuse to tattoo extra dry skin and reschedule your appointment.
